It's Time to Find the Best Places to Elope in Moab

H O W M A N Y Q U E S T S?

The answer to this question will determine the best location for your ceremony. Not all locations can accommodate large groups. Keep in mind, most elopements have up to 20 guests. If it is going to be the two of you, that opens your options. When you start adding guests you will want to start considering the following:

-Parking. Does the location in mind provide enough parking?

-Bathrooms. Are there bathrooms accessible? Will any of your guests need to have one accessible?

-Accessibility. How easy is it to get to the location? Does the route need a 4x4 vehicle? If so, is this accessible to all guests? Will you have to hike to your location? Are all guests able to hike?

When you have your answers, you can start eliminating locations that do not feed your needs.

No crowds are ideal for an elopement. Sometimes that is unavoidable. An important question to ask yourself is, "how important is our privacy?" You should first feel safe and comfortable on your special day. If having privacy is important to you, then there are locations in Moab that will be better for you.

Your experience on your elopement day is crucial. That is one of the main reasons why couples elope. They elope for a unique experience.

Ask yourself what you want your experience to be. Do you want to hike on a trail surrounded by the unique red rock formations? Do you want to be on top on the canyons and see the incredible views from below? Do you want your day to be all about connecting in nature or a little nature and a little of the Moab life?

Moab has so many places to elope. All perfect for a ceremony in their own right. Never choose a location because it's pretty. Take the time to sit down, determine your needs and then choose a location that best suits those needs.

Now that we have broken down things to consider let's dive into some of the best places to elope in Moab.

Arches National Park

Arches is a red rock wonderland. It has over 2,000 natural arch formations, hundreds of pinnacles, and giant balanced rocks. You could spend all day in Arches and not even graze the surface of what all there is to see. There are a few popular elopement spots in Arches. Double Arch, Windows and Sandstone Arch are all popular. Double Arch and Windows tend to have more crowds.

Every location in Arches will require a permit. There are several bathrooms located throughout the park. Most locations have large parking lots but do fill up quickly during peak times and/or season. Not all locations will allow pets.

Canyonlands National Park

Known for its dramatic landscape carved by the Colorado River. It has over 300,000 acres to explore and panoramic views to make lasting memories. Canyonlands also has several bathrooms located throughout the park, as well as large parking lots. Most places in Canyonlands will require less walking than Arches. Not all locations will allow pets. To elope in Canyonlands, you will need a permit.

Dead Horse Point State Park

Resting next door to Canyonlands, it holds similar views. Dead Horse Point is known as one of the few remaining dark skies. If you love to star gaze, this is your spot. Dead Horse Point does see fewer visitors than the national parks. It has bathrooms throughout the park as well as large parking lots. Most sites in the park require little walking. You will need a permit to elope in Dead Horse Point.

BLM Land

BLM (Bureau of land management) can open a few more doors. If you love the idea of a drone for your elopement day, BLM land may be right for you. There are many options to choose from. Some locations are easy to get to and require little walking. Other locations are more difficult to get to (but that's what makes them worth it). Some will require hiking and/or climbing. Others will require a 4x4 vehicle.

Keep in mind many of these locations will not have bathrooms and cannot accommodate large groups. Permits will be required for some locations, but not all.
