Here Is One Ceremony Idea to Include On Your Elopement Day
Some couples find themselves stuck when it comes to deciding on what to do for their ceremony. Elopements allow for many different options and scenarios. This can feel overwhelming. Not to worry, let's explore some ideas so you can determine what's right for you. Keep reading to learn more about elopement ceremony ideas!
Here is one option for your ceremony: handfasting. Handfasting can also be performed at traditional weddings (just FYI).
Handfasting dates back to Celtic rituals. The verb handfast was recorded in late Old English for meaning "to formally promise, to make a contract".
This is a great option for those wanting something different, less traditional, or non-religious.
Most states will not recognize handfasting as a legal wedding ceremony. There must still be a traditional ceremony performed by an officiant as well. 5 states will recognize this as a legal wedding ceremony. Those states are the ones that recognize self-solemnization as a legal form of marriage (Colorado is one of those states!)
